Dan PArkes is the founder of comprador
Dan has worked in Europe and Asia Pacific, predominantly in real estate, most recently as an asset manager for Hongkong Land (Jardine Matheson). With experience in both established and frontier markets across the spectrum of asset classes, he brings a wealth of knowledge to his clients.
Dan has a degree in International Relations from The University of Leeds and post graduate degrees from The University of Greenwich (MSc Real Estate Development & Investment) and The London School of Economics (Masters in Public Administration). He is also a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chatham House.

What’s in a name?
The Portuguese established a trading port in Macau in 1557, 286 years after Marco Polo embarked on his first voyage to Asia in 1271.
The Portuguese were followed by the Dutch and British East India Company. They established trading routes and ports across Asia which gave birth to modern day Hong Kong, Singapore, Penang and Malacca.
The name Comprador was first coined by the Portuguese meaning ‘a buyer’ in the literal sense.
Famous British trading houses such as Jardine Matheson & Co. employed a Comprador , entrusting them with responsibilities ranging from executing trades, procurement of supplies, ship repairs and anything else required of him.
